Use this guide to prepare a clearer technical request. Final manufacturing feasibility is confirmed against the complete RFQ, drawings and project specification.
Different thread geometry
NPT and BSPT use different flank angles and thread forms. Matching nominal size does not make them interchangeable.
State the system explicitly
Write NPT or BSPT and cite the governing standard when required; do not rely on a product photograph.
Check the mating component
For replacement parts, provide mating-part data, a drawing, gauge result or physical sample.
Confirm sealing
Define whether sealing occurs on threads and identify the approved sealant or project procedure.
Specify gauges
Agree gauge type, engagement criteria, cleanliness and thread protection before production.
Standards can be revised and projects may add special requirements. State the designation, edition and supplementary conditions in the RFQ.
