Use this guide to prepare a clearer technical request. Final manufacturing feasibility is confirmed against the complete RFQ, drawings and project specification.
Schedule is size-dependent
The wall assigned to a schedule changes with nominal pipe size, so an RFQ must state both.
Match the connected pipe
Provide mating outside diameter and wall when a special tube or non-standard pipe system is involved.
Separate nominal and finished values
Drawings should distinguish purchasing designations from finished dimensions used for acceptance.
Address forming and machining
State minimum finished wall where forming, threading, machining or corrosion allowance can reduce local thickness.
Define measurement
Agree measurement locations, instruments, tolerances and reporting before production.
Standards can be revised and projects may add special requirements. State the designation, edition and supplementary conditions in the RFQ.
